SQSP

SUPER BOWL 2025

In 2025, I got my second crack at the Super Bowl. This time, we thought why not feature Barry Keoghan riding a donkey through rural Ireland, spreading the good word of Squarespace? The idea was to create a tone like James Joyce meets Monty Python, with Barry presenting beautifully designed websites to local business owners in a bygone time long before laptops existed.

The films were shot in late December on the three shortest days of the year in County Clare, Ireland. And while the towns, rolling hills, stone walls, and the cliffs of Moher gave us our ideal backdrop, it came with some hefty complications. Six-and-a-half hours of daylight per day, torrential rain, hail, a shut down shoot location due to gale force 9 winds—you name it, we had it.

Biscuit’s Steve Rogers masterfully navigated all of these challenges and managed to captured everything on location. The final films feature almost no VFX outside of the flying donkey, of course, and some background/screen replacements. Everyone in the film was authentically Irish, from Barry, to the pub drinkers, to the geese.

Post was a mad dash to the finish line. Editing was done by Rich Orrick and Chris O’Brien at Work Editorial. VFX was helmed by Kevin, and the grade was honed by Damien Vandercruyssen at Harbor. Photography, as always, was captured by our in-house photographer, Craig Reynolds.

This one put the whole team to the test, and everyone rose to the challenge, which made it all the sweeter to share with the world. And now many of us have experienced the unbridled joy of throwing a laptop.
